Manholes are chambers constructed along the route of a sewer line to provide access for inspection, cleaning and unblocking. It could also be used to change the direction that a sewer flows and allow the sewage to ventilate. Age and environmental factors can lead to the need for manhole repair or manhole rehabilitation. Water stagnant around the manhole is an indication of a manhole starting to fail. New properties may also require manholes.
